Anuradhapura Day Tour

Anuradhapura

Step into the heart of Sri Lanka’s ancient civilisation as you explore the sacred city of Anuradhapura, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic capital, founded in the 4th century BCE, is home to sprawling temple complexes, majestic stupas like Ruwanwelisaya and Jetavanaramaya, intricately carved moonstones, royal baths, and monasteries that whisper tales of a glorious past. Don’t miss the Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, a sapling from the original Bodhi Tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment—revered for over 2,000 years. A guided tour through this cultural marvel offers not just history, but spiritual serenity and awe.

Wilpattu Jeep Safari

Just an hour’s drive from Anuradhapura lies the Wilpattu National Park, the largest and one of the oldest national parks in Sri Lanka. Renowned for its unique “villus” or natural lakes scattered throughout the park, Wilpattu offers a truly untamed safari experience with minimal crowds and vast untouched wilderness. On a morning or afternoon jeep safari, you’ll journey through dense forests, open plains, and wetlands in search of elusive leopards, sloth bears, elephants, and a rich diversity of birdlife. The best time to visit is during the dry season from February to October when animals frequently gather around waterholes. Safari timings generally begin around 6:00 AM for morning drives and 2:30 PM for afternoon drives. This adventure promises raw encounters with Sri Lanka’s most iconic wildlife in a tranquil setting.
